‘Brighton’ – Starting Line

Today saw the final part of our journey in the UK as we made our way to Brighton for our long awaited gathering with the rest of the team, many of whom have already had long journeys from Australia, USA, Canada and Norway, just to get to the starting line. The route, busy at times, did find us passing some lovely waterfront and beaches.

Our arrival at Brighton found us at Queen’s Park, where we met with our fellow cyclists and our support team, Steve and Paul who will help us get to Barcelona, luggage, bikes and bodies intact. It was also at this point that we said goodbye to Julie and Sheena whose support has been invaluable. We’ll miss you both. 

A photo opportunity at the iconic Brighton Pier and a short but busy ride to the port at Newhaven where we caught the ferry bound for Dieppe. A very short bike ride to our hotel and we even found time for a quick beer and refuelling before our long first day cycling in France tomorrow.
