Cycle Across America – Day 6

Cascade Lock to Hood River

18 hard, hilly, hot miles / 974ft

It might sound easy. It wasn’t.

Mainly along a lovely riverside bike trail but the penultimate five miles found us back on the I30.

Day 6 – Our learning so far….

  • Miles in the afternoon seem twice as hard and twice as long as those in the morning
  • It always takes longer to reach your destination than you think it will
  • An early start is not 10am
  • 4,500 miles is a very long way
  • 213 miles has not ‘broken the back of it’
  • Hills are hard
  • Rest days are for just that
  • We still read a ‘road closed’ sign as a ‘find a way through’ signal

  1. Oops, me and my fat fingers! 🙄 Mileage left to go staring with ‘three thousand’ will be a huge psychological gain! Xxx

  2. Feels good to know Caroline and Paul are joining you shortly, seems like a long week since you left to start this huge challenge xxx Mum.
