The term ‘rest day’ once again did not truly convey ‘rest’ but it didn’t involve cycling (except to the bike shop and back for a service) so it was restful in that respect. It was also an opportunity to catch up with life admin, laundry and folks at home.
Thinking of home, I’m feeling blessed to have support from my three gorgeous boys and my friends and family back home. Despite being thousands of miles away, your lovely messages make me feel that you are with me on this journey. Keep them coming, they really do make a difference. We’ve still got a long way to go and I’m missing you all.
We said our sad farewells to Marianne and Steve who have been wonderful company over the past couple of weeks and then we welcomed them back for another evening when their flight home to Boston was cancelled.
We sincerely hope they can join us for a few days again towards the end of our journey.
We used today to reassess our ‘essential’ kit list. Between us, John and I have managed to send approximately 4kg of ‘essentials’ home with Steve and Marianne. It is surprising how few ‘essentials’ we really need on a daily basis and we are both elated at the prospect of cycling tomorrow with lighter loads.

I’ve been reading every post on my phone whilst I’m away and basically cry at every one. I’m a mess!!! Hoping I manage to send a comment this time 🙏🏼 you’re all amazing but especially you Alison. In awe and also thinking how C, R and K will be feeling so so proud of their beautiful mum. Xx
Keep up the amazing work, Alison and John. You’re doing brilliantly. Where have those 10 years gone? The 12 years since my dx seems like a long time, hardly remember life before PD, but I feel like I’m living well with it and you’re at a whole other level. Inspirational woman! Xx
