Redwood Falls to Hutchison
60miles / 1,037ft climb
An easy, uneventful ride today where we enjoyed a tailwind at times, where it was hot but not as blisteringly hot as recent days and where the traffic was busy enough but not too many enormous trucks. It made for a quick 60 miles.
We stopped just over half way at Buffalo Lake to find nowhere open. Thirsty, hot and hungry, we found the local bar that we had expected to find open was closed. Staff were there to prepare for a party night the following weekend but it was Sunday and so they were officially closed. We were crestfallen and just about to turn around and head out of town when one of the staff invited us in, brought four bottles of icy cold water, some sodas and offered to make us a pizza! All on the house!
Again, the kindness of strangers is a theme that runs through this blog. We sat in the bar for a good 45 minutes having a well earned rest. We left refreshed, revived, reinvigorated for the remaining 30 miles.
We reached our hotel, around 4pm and I took a slow walk around the lovely park and lake that it backed on to. Japanese Steak House for supper, a few games of cards and we’ve definitely got a routine going on here!

You’ve certainly come across some kind folk ❤️
Amazingly nonchalant about a 60 mile ride! Well done all, you must all be incredibly fit now 👏💪🏻
We are definitely all fitter and despite eating huge amounts, all a little bit thinner I think!
It’s so uplifting to hear of the unconditional generosity of others. x
It is so wonderful to experience it x
You are all a magnet for random acts of kindness. There is nothing random about it!
