Minneapolis

For me, as we planned our itinerary, for a whole variety of reasons, Minneapolis symbolised the dividing line between the first and second halves of our adventure. Having reached Minneapolis, it does indeed feel like a milestone for us.

It is just over the halfway mark in terms of both distance cycled and time spent.

Completed: 2,370miles in 58 days

To complete: 2,130miles in 46 days

Minneapolis is the biggest city we have been to since Portland, eight weeks previously. The contrasts between cycling through Minneapolis and the time we have spent cycling across Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota couldn’t be more obvious.

Minneapolis marked the point where we saw more cyclists in eight minutes than we have done in the last eight weeks.

Minneapolis marks the point where we have achieved a huge amount so far but there is still a long way to go.

That will require a whole other series of blogs….
