Cycle Across America – Day 59

Minneapolis to St Croix Falls

61 miles / 2,313ft climb

We woke, as forecast to a black sky and heavy rain. Team decision was to have a leisurely breakfast and delay our start until the rain eased. By 11.30am, we were on the road and eight hours later we arrived at our destination of St Crois Falls.

Our journey was split between bike trail and quiet roads with a few busier stretches towards the end of our ride.

Some interesting obstacles to overcome!

Shortly before reaching our destination we crossed the Wisconsin river which marked our departure from Minnesota and our arrival in Wisconsin, the eighth state we have cycled in so far.

On arrival at our hotel, we were not as wet as we expected to be and we have to remind ourselves that in the past eight weeks this is the first time that rain has delayed play.

Another ‘eat quickly’ fast food supper with absolutely no useful nutritional value and straight to bed. We didn’t even manage a glass of wine this evening. We are slacking and clearly must try harder!
