Summary By Caroline Broekman

We have been riding for two months now.

We have seen so much and experienced so much up it is difficult to summarise.

We have been mostly blessed with good weather. A couple of days with bits of rain and a late start due to rain. Also a couple of thunder storms which have necessitated the need to take shelter. Otherwise lovely summer days.

We have had some challenges – miscommunication leading to our group becoming separated with no means of reconnecting, some punctures and difficult tyre changes, a delivery not turning up (luckily still able to fix bike), some accommodation changes and route changes, some less-than- satisfactory accommodation issues.

But the overriding theme is the openness of people, the interest in our journey, the effectiveness of our ‘team’ shirts and the overwhelming kindness of strangers.

Carter Inn at Ten Sleep with its fabulous home-made breakfast, Jannie at her un’wine’d wine bar in Buffalo who gave us a book and a bottle of wine after hearing our story.

Mindi who followed our story and drove to flag us down on the highway with a boot full of cooled goodies for us.

The lady decorating her closed bar at Buffalo Lake who allowed us to sit inside, eat our own food and drink her lovely iced water as biting flies and gnat swarms meant there was no way we could eat outside.

Bob and Cathy who saw us passing and stopped to chat and then invited us into their house for cookies and snacks.

Lyn at Clam Lake Junction who let us use the laundry, bought us drinks at the restaurant and wants to share our story with his thousands of social media followers.

P.S. Today, Molly, who had spoken to Lyn last night, stopped her car, flagged us down, gave us a hug and wanted to chat and have her picture taken with us.
