Chatham to Port Stanley
69miles/ 702ft climb
We said a sad farewell to Caroline and Paul this morning as we set off in different directions for the first time in 84 days.
They spent some time on Pelee Island and then went onto Kingsville before they return to America tomorrow.
I cycled with Steve and John today while Lori transported all our luggage, met us for lunch and stocked up and supplies for the evening.
We cycled hard and fast this morning and had earned a hearty lunch by the time we reached New Glasgow. Finding a restaurant that opened its doors for the first time today, we were served the largest slices of lasagne I have ever seen. This necessitated boxes to carry out the left overs and solved any dilemma as to what we might eat tonight.

We recognised so many place names today that we might have believed we were taking a road trip around the U.K. Morpeth, Glasgow, Elgin, Charing Cross, London, Blenheim, Kent, Shrewsbury, Glencoe and many more familiar names all featured.
The miles passed quickly this morning and a little slower this afternoon as we navigated our way through a road closed sign (which we ignored, obviously), a new eight mile stretch of tarmac and a mile of gravel as well as a mixture of other roads.
Arriving at our lovely beach house, I spent an hour on the beach, stretching and rehydrating before supper (leftover lasagne of course), a few hands of fives and off to bed before repeating again tomorrow.

Wow 🤩 that lasagne! You’ll be powering up those hills over the coming days 🤞💪🏻xx
You’ll really miss one another but what a fantastic adventure you’ve had together. I’m looking forward to reading about the remainder of your trip. Enjoy the beach xx
And so begins the next stage of an epic odyssey. Eat leftover lasagne. Stay safe!
An epic journey with Caroline & Paul. I’ve loved reading your daily blog & looking at Caroline’s Instagram posts.
It’s become my routine like listening to a radio programme every day.
Thanks for sharing your adventures so eloquently, always a good read.
You all look younger in the pics every day. What a special time for you and John now, finishing the journey together. Enjoy xxxxxxx
Wow… That is enormous… Glad you had somewhere nice to stay and the idea of stretching on the beach sounds wonderful
