Port Dover to Port Colborne
59miles / 738ft climb
Another extremely hot day. Once again, we were grateful not to have to carry our bags and once again, our average speed was higher than our average, average speed!
Today’s route took us along the north shore of Lake Erie, close to the water’s edge for much of it and it was simply beautiful.

We were also delighted that both Steve and Lori managed to cycle part of the day with us.

All good things must come to an end and Lori and Steve had to leave for Toronto this evening. We will miss them.

We had David and Nancy join us for dinner this evening from Hamilton which was lovely. No cycling involved this time!

Not many photos in your civvies – looking nice and relaxed x
We spend over 90% of our time in our cycling gear!
It makes such a difference when you can ride along the lake shore even if it adds a few extra kilometres, the more interesting roads and the views make it so much pleasanter. As well being a degree or two cooler with a bit of a breeze helmsman this heat.
So glad it’s all going well!
Do you have a route planned further East?
Hi David,
We are currently in Pittsford and are looking at options heading east. We have come to the end of our pre planned route. We have the American Cycle Association maps and ultimately we need to be in Boston. It will take around 600-700miles to get there and we have just over two weeks to do it. Any suggestions/ advice welcomed! Rest day / bike maintenance day / route planning day today.
Impressive pace in the heat!
We’re getting used to the heat, the miles and the food…….
