Cycle Across America – Day 98

Brattleboro to Peterborough

46 miles / 2674ft climb

It was a hard day today. I’ve embraced the hills in the mountains as much as I can, but frankly I’ve had enough! There were far more hills than I would’ve chosen today and some extremely steep sections on them but we are edging closer and closer to our destination, so I huffed and puffed my way up the hills and eventually we completed the miles and the climb for the day.

We left Vermont today and entered New Hampshire, the twelfth state we have visited.

Our destination for the day, Peterborough, was a lovely little town and as we cycled through it, we were drawn to a lively bar across the road from us. With everyone sitting outside and us pulling up on our laden bikes, we were immediately asked about our trip.

A quick drink turned into supper and an evening full of chatter and laughter as so many people asked to learn more about our adventure.

  1. How lovely that people take the time to find out more about your journey, each one becoming part of your story. X

  2. Looking good though, never doubted that you would achieve your goal. Looking forward to hearing when you finish. What an adventure, sending much love to you both from a very proud Mum xxx

  3. Congratulations, Alison! Your ability to keep going, day after day, is an inspiration. You & John are amazing; I know that you will achieve your goal and my hope is that you will continue to derive enjoyment, if not from the hills, but then from the company and plaudits of your friends and acquaintances along the way who are engrossed by your commitment and who gladly celebrate your successes. Nancy & I will be thinking of you all the way.
