Murdo to Kennebec
44 Miles / 1,135ft climb

A slightly more acceptable start after a Best Western chain breakfast that included real fruit which was a) unusual b) very welcome and c) made it almost edible.
With a storm forecast around 1pm, we were keen to reach Kennebec before then. The ride was relatively short again today due to the paucity of accommodation over the next few days. Our choices for tonight had been a motel at 45 miles or the next one at 90 miles which we had deemed too far.
The ride was relatively easy today except for the strong winds, sometimes helping us along a little but predominantly catching us off guard and pushing us sideways. We made good time however and had just gained access to our accommodation when the storm descended on us.
Kennebec (population 284) offered us Gerry’s Motel, basic but clean and very welcoming accommodation and a bar which opened at 6pm.
We certainly haven’t landed anywhere where that promises to offer any significant July 4th Independence Day celebrations. Although, a fireworks shop suggests there may be some celebratory pyrotechnics later.

Definitely getting a sense that good nutritional food is thin on the ground.
Real fruit is a luxury item?! 😮
I’m intrigued to know about the unreal stuff now… 🤔
