Stoneham to Waltham
29miles / 512ft climb
A beautiful day for our last ‘Cycle Across America’ ride. Lots of sunshine and no hint of yesterday’s rain.
A very slow, wobbly start for me only served to remind me what an enormous challenge this has been but also I am filled with gratitude that ten years after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, I have been able to do this. It really has been such an incredible experience.

Today’s ride was predominantly along a dedicated bike trail through Boston and onto our final destination of Waltham.

It is a beautiful Saturday morning and the path was incredibly busy with cyclists, runners, families and walkers. It was a joy to see so many people enjoying the weekend sunshine and we simply slowed down and embraced the hustle and bustle.

We met Marianne and Steve near the beginning of our ride and so they were able to navigate us in and out of Boston to Waltham, taking a slightly circuitous route to ensure our mileage met our target, so by the time we reached their home, I had clocked up 4,501 miles!
It was so lovely to celebrate with them both and it was wonderful to put the bikes in the garage, knowing that we can indeed celebrate, rest and relax now……..for a while at least.

Congratulations on your huge achievement!! 🥇🥇🎉👏🥂. You have done brilliantly well, I admire your determination and now you deserve a well earned rest. Safe travels home xxx

💪♥️🐝. Well done my friend!! A outstanding achievement! 👏👏 Keep up the cycling Alison! Exercise is a god send for all however particularly critical for us. Keeps the head clear and focused and our bodies strong. I think I was at 10 years after diagnosis when we met in Kyoto. I’m now going into my 16th year after diagnosis & as us parkies know the effects of Parkinsons started long before diagnosis. You cycling, me tennis! God bless our Parkinsons community round the globe! Xx
